Retreat Meeting 2018 SuMoRhineRetreat meeting of SuMo-Rhine project

The reflexion meeting of the SuMo-Rhine project took place from November 28th to 29th. The co-financing partners, DFIU, KIT-ECON, Universität of Freiburg, Universität of Koblenz- Landau, Université de Haute-Alsace, Université de Strasbourg and CNRS, created a work plan to build the framework of the indicators system.

Themenabend „Kohleausstieg“ - Blickpunkte aus Politik, Energiewirtschaft und Wissenschaft mit anschließender Diskussion am 10.09.2018, 18 -19:30 Uhr

Im Rahmen des Projektes „Upper Rhine Cluster for Sustainability Research“  bietet das DFIU einen Themenabend zum „Kohleausstieg“ an. Anhand von drei Impulsvorträgen aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Politik wird das Thema aus verschiedenen Blickpunkten beleuchtet und im Anschluss im Plenum diskutiert. DFIU congratulates David Balussou

DFIU congratulates David Balussou, who successfully completed his doctoral dissertation on "An analysis of current and future electricity production from biogas in Germany" in February 2018.

Frankreich-Konzeption: Expert workshop in Stuttgart

The “Frankreich-Konzeption” is intended to give new impulse to the cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and France in a targeted manner. As part of a conceptual process, the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg, together with German and French actors, intends to explore how Baden-Württemberg's cooperation with France could be further improved and deepened in the future. The DFIU attended the workshop on "Transport and Mobility" on 14 May 2018.

Presentation of the DFIU's work at the sustainability cluster transfer workshop (URCforSR)

The DFIU participated in the transfer workshop "Regional Solutions for a Secure and Sustainable Energy System in the Upper Rhine Region" on 20 June 2018. The DFIU presented its work in a presentation entitled "Decarbonization of the Energy system through the increased use of renewable electricity - Impacts on security of supply in Southern Germany".

IIP participates in the 5th Latin American Biorefinery Congress

The IIP is participating in a workshop at the 5th Latin American Biorefinery Congress (more here ), which will take place from 7th to 9th of January 2019 in Concepción, Chile. The workshop on "Sustainable Use of Biomass in Chile and beyond" is also the completion of the project ‘SeMoBioEnergy” (more information here), which has been funded by the BMBF since September 2015 and which has been coordinated by the IIP.

Co-supervision of thesis with the CNRS

The DFIU has supervised a master thesis from October 2017 to June 2018 with CNRS Reactions and Process Engineering Laboratory on the issue "Techno-economic assessment of biogas production with integration of material and energy flows based on ADM1".

DFIU supports Novatris in its cross-border investigations

NovaTris, the cross-border competence centre of the University of Haute-Alsace, is conducting a survey on the accelerators and barriers to the meeting in a trinational context. DFIU participated in a collective interview on June 27th, 2018 to gather opinions, proposals and expectations related to the subject.

ITFInternational Transport Forum

The international conference "Transport, Climate Change, and Clean Air", which was organized by the DFIU, the International Transport Forum (ITF) and the University Paris Supelec, took successfully place in Paris at June 21st and 22nd. The discussions focused on current challenges in the academic research and current scientific methods in the field of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in transportation. Core results are now transferred to the international climate negations of the UNFCCC. Further information is available here.

Event: Statistics for Energy Markets

From 18 to 20 June 2018, the DFIU participated in the summer school and conference "Statistics for Energy Markets: Modelling, Forecasting for Renewable Energy Production and Statistical Inference" organised by EDF, the Finance and Sustainable Development Chair, the Laboratoire de Finance des Marchés de l'Énergie, the Université Paris Dauphine, the École Polytechnique and ENSAE ParisTech.

New German-French project at DFIU

The European Union is supporting the project "SuMo-Rhine – Sustainable Mobility in the Upper-Rhine Region" with a total of 1.36 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund. The decision on the allocation of the funds was taken on June, 14th at the meeting of the European INTERREG programme in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. DFIU coordinates the project (duration: 1.7.2018 to 30.6.2021). The project consortium consists of the Institute of Economics (KIT-ECON), the University of Freiburg, the European College for Human Ecology, the University of Koblenz-Landau, the University of Strasbourg, the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), the University of Colmar-Mulhouse (UHA), the Strasbourg School of Architecture and the City of Lörrach.

Dr. Anna Kühlen gewinnt ARCADIS-Preis

Das DFIU gratuliert Dr.-Ing. Anna Kühlen zur Verleihung des ARCADIS-Preis für Geo- und Umweltforschung. Frau Kühlen erhält den Preis für ihre Promotion.

Summerschool Serior Graduate Academy 2018

In the week from 18.6. - 22.6. the SERIOR Graduate Academy Summer School will take place in Goersdorf in France according to the motto "Risk Without Borders". On Thursday, June 21, Dr. Marcus Wiens, in cooperation with Prof. Eva Louvet and Dr. Florence Spitzenstetter (both Faculty of Psychology at the University of Strasbourg), will conduct an interactive teaching unit on the topic "Risk and social comparison - experimental research in psychology and economics".
